LDSFF CALL FOR ENTRIES 2016

We invite and encourage all LDS and Utah filmmakers to participate in the 15th Annual LDS Film Festival 2016 and submit their work to the festival. The festival offers around $3,000 in cash awards and a perfect venue to premiere your film to a large and appreciative audience.

The LDS Film Festival strives to annually present a diverse spectrum of films that represent the status quo of current filmmaking in the LDS film community. The festival is independently organized and not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

24-HOUR MARATHON GOES INTERNATIONAL

For the first time this year, everyone around the globe can participate in the 24-Hour Filmmaking Marathon. You don’t have to be physically present at the start of the competition.

You can sign up now and save 30% on the entry fee. Half of each group’s entry fee will go towards the award money.

Every year dozens of groups participate, and all finished films are screened during the LDS Film Festival to a crowd of several hundred people. Past entries have gone on to play at film festivals nationwide. Every participating group has 24 hours to write, shoot and edit a 3-minute short film.

We will kick off the marathon on Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Scera Center for the Arts in Orem, Utah. We will post the theme, object, and dialogue line on the festival website and participants can upload their finished films 24 hours later on Saturday, February 20.

The motto of the festival is: “The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.” (D&C 93:36). The festival is looking for intelligent stories and films that deal with spirituality in a universal way. The stories may deal with Gospel issues, however, this is not a requirement. Light and truth can be found in every aspect of life.
